The International Olympic Committee has approved five new sports for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. These sports are Baseball/Softball, Karate, Skateboarding, Surfing, and Climbing.

Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics
The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXII Olympiad, and commonly known as Tokyo 2020, are an upcoming international multi-sport event. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020 in Tokyo, Japan, they were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan. These are the first Summer Olympics to be held in Asia since the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.
New Sports
In order to appeal to a wider audience and attract more viewers, the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee has decided to add five new sports to the lineup for the upcoming Summer Olympics. These sports are:
-Baseball/Softball: Baseball and softball were last included in the Olympic Games in 2008, but will make a comeback in 2020. -Skateboarding: Skateboarding will make its Olympic debut in Tokyo, with both street and park events being contested.
-Karate: Another sport making its Olympic debut in 2020, karate will feature two medal events for men and women.
-Sport Climbing: Sport climbing, which combines elements of both rock climbing and bouldering, will also be contested for the first time in Tokyo.
-Surfing: Surfing will also make its Olympic debut in 2020, with both shortboard and longboard events being contested.
Returning Sports
The Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics will see the return of several fan-favorite sports, including basketball, gymnastics, and swimming. New events have also been added to the lineup, giving spectators even more to look forward to. Below are some of the sports that will be featured at the upcoming Games.

Tokyo 2020 Paralympics
There will be five new sports added to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. These sports are goalball, powerchair football, badminton, taekwondo, and wheelchair rugby. All of these sports are extremely exciting and will add a lot of competition to the Paralympics.
New Sports
The 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo will feature 22 sports, with two new additions to the lineup.
The first new sport is para-canoeing, which will make its debut at the 2020 Games. Para-canoeing is a modified version of canoeing that is open to athletes with a physical impairment.
The second new sport for 2020 is para-taekwondo. Para-taekwondo is a modified version of taekwondo that is open to athletes with a visual impairment.
