What is TSN Sports?

TSN Sports is a Canadian sports television channel. It is the flagship property of CTV Specialty Television Inc., a division of Bell Media. It was established in 1984 as The Sports Network, and was the first ever specialty channel in Canada devoted to sports 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

TSN is available in approximately 8.8 million households in Canada. TSN’s five feeds distribute programming across Canada, and are TSN1, TSN3, TSN4, TSN5, and RDS2. Each of these feeds air different programming depending on the region of the country; for example, Toronto Maple Leafs hockey games are only seen on TSN4 in Ontario (as well as RDS2), but are seen on all five feeds nationwide when they air on Hockey Night in Canada.

TSN is the largest provider of live sports coverage in Canada, airing over 5,000 hours of live coverage every year. This includes Major League Baseball, National Hockey League, Canadian Football League, NASCAR Pinty’s Series, Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and Europa League, English Premier League , Golf’s The Open Championship and PGA Championship (among other tournaments), Wimbledon , French Open , harness racing’s Pepsi North America Cup , Memorial Cup , Canadian Tire Motorsport Park events, World Curling Championships , Skate Canada International , Challenger Circuit events hosted in Canada among others.

TSN Sports is a Canadian sports network that was established in 1984. The network is owned by CTV Specialty Television Inc., a subsidiary of Bell Media. TSN Sports is the largest provider of sports coverage in Canada, with extensive live coverage of Major League Baseball, National Hockey League, Canadian Football League, NASCAR, and much more.

TSN Sports first launched as two separate channels – TSN (the National Sports Network) and RDS (Reseau des sports). In 1989, the two channels were merged into one and re-branded as TSN.

Over the years, TSN has acquired the broadcast rights to some of Canada’s biggest sporting events, including the Olympics, the Grey Cup, and the FIFA World Cup. In recent years, the network has been beefing up its non-live programming lineup with original shows such as That’s Hockey 2Nite and Sunday Nght Football.

In addition to its flagship English language service, TSN also operates three French language services – RDS2, RDS Info, and RIS Info – which offer live coverage of French-language sporting events in Canada.

TSN4 is targeted at sports fans in Atlantic Canada. It is available on Eastlink in that region.
