Alpine Skiing: Alpine skiing is one of the most popular winter Olympic sports and it features races down steep slopes at high speeds. While it may look easy enough, this sport requires a great deal of skill and training as athletes must navigate their way through gates while avoiding obstacles such as trees.

Snowboarding: Snowboarding made its debut at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan and has been a fan favorite ever since. This fast-paced sport involves riders snowboards descending down a hill or slope while performing tricks and maneuvers.

It is also considered to be more dangerous because there is a greater risk of injury if you fall.

The Winter Paralympics is an international multi-sport event where athletes with physical disabilities compete. This includes athletes with paralysis, amputations, and other disabilities. The Winter Paralympics are held every four years, the same as the Summer Paralympics.

Alpine skiing is further divided into standing and sitting events; cross-country skiing intoupper and lower limb impairments; and ice hockey into sled and stand-up versions. There are also a number of demonstration Sports that have been included in past Games but are not currently on the official program. These have included mono-skiing (a kind of alpine skiing), powerlifting, snowboarding, and wheelchair basketball .

Winter Paralympics events

The Winter Paralympics are an international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities. The Games are held every four years, following the Winter Olympics, and the first edition was held in 1976.

There are five main winter Paralympic sports: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ice hockey and wheelchair curling. Alpine skiing is further divided into downhill, slalom and giant slalom events. The number of events and athletes has increased over the years, and the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang will feature 570 athletes from 49 countries competing in 80 medals events across all five sports.
