Puerto Rico is home to many different kinds of sports. The most popular ones are baseball, basketball, and boxing. However, there are also many other sports that Puerto Ricans enjoy, such as volleyball, track and field, and soccer.

Baseball

Puerto Rico has a long history with baseball. The island has produced some of the game’s greatest players, including Roberto Clemente, Orlando Cepeda, and Edgar Martinez. Puerto Rico even has its own professional baseball league, the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Robert Clemente, which was founded in 1938. Baseball is so popular in Puerto Rico that it is sometimes referred to as “la cuna del béisbol” (the cradle of baseball).

In addition to being home to many professional and amateur baseball teams, Puerto Rico also hosts the annual World Baseball Classic. This international tournament features teams from all over the world, including the United States, Japan, and Cuba. Puerto Rico has participated in all seven editions of the World Baseball Classic, and their best finish came in 2017 when they lost to the Netherlands in the final.
