Introduction
Nowadays, people are getting more and more likely to pursue Thrill and Danger in their leisure time. There are many ways of an adventure, but some people choose the most dangerous way to have fun which is called “Extreme Sport”. Although Extreme Sport could bring us great excitement, it might also result in terrible accidents leading to permanent injury or even death. That’s why I think Extreme Sport should be banned.
First of all, for those who do extreme sports, their life would be in great danger. Once they made a mistake or the equipment failed, they would probably die because of a heavy fall or unbearable pressure. Secondly, it is likely to leave them disabled even if they didn’t die from the accident. A lot of people have been paralyzed from the waist or below because of this kind of sport. They have to spend the rest of their life on a wheelchair which brings them great pain and tremendous pressure both mentally and physically. Finally, doing extreme sports would affect other people as well as themselves. If something bad happened to them when they were doing it, not only their life would be ruined but also their family members or friends who care about them a lot would be deeply hurt because of it.
Consequently, I strongly believe that extreme sport should be banned in order not to put people’s life in danger as well as prevent any potential accidents from happening.
The Dangers of Extreme Sports
Fatalities
One of the dangers of extreme sports is the increased risk of fatalities. According to a report by participants in extreme sports increased from six percent in 2010 to eight percent in 2013. In 2012, there were 47 fatalities reported in the United States among people participating in extreme sports.
The most common cause of death among extreme sports participants is from head injuries. This is because many extreme sports involve high speeds and dangerous tricks that can easily result in head trauma. Wearing a helmet can help reduce the risk of head injuries, but it is not always effective.
Another danger of extreme sports is the risk of serious injuries. These injuries can often lead to permanent disability or even death. According to the National Safety Council, the number of emergency room visits for extreme sports-related injuries increased from about 27,000 in 2010 to almost 50,000 in 2013. The most common types of injuries are fractures, concussions, and spinal cord injuries.
The third danger of Extreme Sports is the financial cost. Many Extreme Sports require expensive equipment and there are often high costs associated with medical care and treatment for injuries sustained while participating in these activities.
Injuries
While some people might view extreme sports as a harmless way to get an adrenaline rush, the reality is that these activities can be extremely dangerous. Every year, people are seriously injured – and sometimes even killed – while participating in extreme sports. Here are three dangers of extreme sports that should make you think twice before participating:
1. Injuries: Because extreme sports involve such high levels of physical activity, there is a significant risk of injury. Broken bones, concussions, and other serious injuries are not uncommon.
2. Fatigue: Extreme sports can also lead to fatigue, which can in turn lead to accidents. When you’re tired, your reflexes are slower and you’re less likely to make smart decisions.
3. Weather: Weather conditions can play a big role in extreme sports accidents. If the weather is bad, it can be very easy to lose control or make a mistake that could have serious consequences.
Environmental Impact
A large part of the appeal of extreme sports is the thrill of being in nature and testing oneself against the elements. However, this often comes at a cost to the environment. Loud noises from motors, particularly snowmobiles and jet skis, can disturb wildlife and cause long-term damage to their hearing. Pollution from engines and boats can pollute water sources and harm marine life. And the construction of jumps and ramps can damage delicate ecosystems.
Conclusion
In conclusion, extreme sports should be banned because they are too dangerous, they can lead to addiction, and they often involve illegal activities. Although some people argue that extreme sports provide a sense of thrill and excitement, the risks simply outweigh the benefits. It is important to remember that these sports are not necessary for a person to live a happy and fulfilling life.
