Forbes has released its annual ranking of the most valuable sports franchises in the world. The Dallas Cowboys top the list for the second straight year, worth an estimated $4.8 billion.

The NFL is the most valuable sports franchise in the world. They generate the most revenue of any sports league and have the most valuable television contracts. The NFL also has the most recognizable brands in all of sports.

In 2018, the NFL generated $8.1 billion in revenue. This was an increase of 5% from the 2017 season, when the league generated $7.8 billion in revenue. The NFL’s revenue is primarily generated through three sources: broadcast rights, ticket sales, and sponsorship deals.
The vast majority of the NFL’s broadcast rights are owned by two companies: CBS and NBC. Together, these companies account for about $3.1 billion of the NFL’s annual revenue. The other $5 billion comes from ticket sales and sponsorship deals.

Rounding out the top five were the New York Yankees ($4 billion), Los Angeles Rams ($3.8 billion) and the New York Knicks ($3.6 billion).
The Yankees remained the most valuable MLB team for the 20th consecutive year and are now worth $4 billion, up from $3.7 billion in 2018. The Los Angeles Dodgers are second with a value of $3 billion, followed by the Boston Red Sox ($2.8 billion), Chicago Cubs ($2.6 billion) and San Francisco Giants ($2.5 billion).
The Knicks are the most valuable NBA franchise for the fourth consecutive year and are now worth $3.6 billion, up from $3.5 million in 2018. The Los Angeles Lakers are second with a value of $3.7 billion, followed by the Golden State Warriors ($3.5 billion), Chicago Bulls ($2.9 million) and Houston Rockets ($2.8 million).

In the 2018-19 season, the NBA generated $8.76 billion in total revenue. This was an 8% increase from the previous year and marked a new league record. The NBA also set a new record for total attendance, with more than 28 million fans attending games during the regular season and playoffs.
The vast majority of the NBA’s revenue comes from television agreements and corporate sponsorships. In the 2018-19 season, broadcast partners NBC, ABC, TNT, and ESPN paid a combined $2.66 billion to air NBA games. This was up from $2.5 billion in the previous year. The NBA also has deals in place with numerous corporate sponsors, including Nike, Beats by Dre, Gatorade, and Kia Motors. These sponsorships are worth an estimated $1.27 billion per year.

That is almost double what the second most profitable team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, made that year. The Yankees are the most valuable sports franchise in the world, worth an estimated $4.6 billion.
MLB’s Revenue
In 2017, the MLB pulled in a total revenue of $10.7 billion dollars. Of that, $1.3 billion came from broadcasting/television rights, with an additional $509 million coming from MLB Advanced Media’s digital rights. Ticket sales brought in $856 million, and baseball-related consumer products such as jerseys and memorabilia added another $527 million to the total. Sponsorship deals accounted for $892 million, and the MLB also pulled in $935 million from concessions and other stadium-related revenue.

The NHL is the most profitable sports franchise in North America. The average NHL team is worth $1.25 billion, which is more than any other professional sports league in the world. The NHL has been able to generate more revenue than any other sports league because of its popularity in the United States and Canada.
