The 2021 Sports Emmy Awards
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the winners of the 42nd annual Sports Emmy Awards on Tuesday night, with ESPN winning the coveted Outstanding Live Sports Special for its production of “The Last Dance.”
The 10-part docuseries, which chronicles Michael Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls, won a total of six Emmys, including Outstanding Edited Sport Special.
Other big winners included HBO Sports, which took home four Emmys for its documentary “ Being Serena,” and NBC Sports, which won three Emmys for its coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
This year’s ceremony was held virtually for the first time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Hosts of the 2021 Sports Emmy Awards
The 45th annual Sports Emmy Awards were announced on May 10, 2021, with a special ceremony hosted by Mike Tirico and Maria Taylor. The awards are given out by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and honor the best in sports television and radio.
This year’s big winner was ESPN, which took home 19 awards, including the award for Outstanding Live Sports Special (for its broadcast of the College Football Playoff National Championship game). The Presenters of the 2021 Sports Emmy Awards
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced today the presenters for the 42nd Annual Sports Emmy Awards. The awards will be handed out on May 24th, live on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) at 8PM ET from Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.
Among those scheduled to present are 2021 honorees Roger Federer and Alex Morgan, as well as Aly Raisman, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Jimmy Vesey, Joe Girardi, Laila Ali, Rebecca Lobo, Ronnie Lott and Scott Van Pelt.

The awards were presented in a total of 37 categories, with winners ranging from iconic sports broadcasters to up-and-coming talents. On the night of May 11th, HBO Sports and Bleacher Report co-hosted the 2021 Sports Emmy Awards after-party at pier 59 in Manhattan. The evening celebrated the nominees and winners of this year’s awards show, which was held earlier in the day.

The Memorable Moments at the 2021 Sports Emmy Awards
The 54th annual Sports Emmy Awards took place on Tuesday evening, with a number of familiar faces taking home top honors.
Among the winners was NBC’s Al Michaels, who took home the Outstanding Sports Personality – Play-by-Play award for his work on Sunday Night Football. Michaels has now won 11 Sports Emmys in his career.
