Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent’s court. The object of the game is to maneuver the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball will not gain a point, while the opposite player will.

History

The origins of tennis date back several thousand years to an ancient game played in France. The game was called jeu de paume and was played by hitting a ball with the palm of the hand. In the 12th century, this game began to be played using rackets (paddles). By the 16th century, tennis was fairly popular in France, Italy, and England. It wasn’t until 1873 that Wimbledon (the oldest tennis tournament in the world) was first played.

Rules

A tennis match is played between two players (singles) or between two teams of two players (doubles). Each player/team uses a strung racquet to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over a net into the opponent’s court. The modern game was created in Birmingham, England, in the late 19th century. It has been an Olympic sport since the first modern games in 1896.

The object of tennis is to play the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball will not gain a point, while the opposite player will. A point is gained by successfully hitting the ball over the net and into the court so that your opponent cannot return it or by forcing your opponent to hit the ball outside of their court or into the net. This can occur when your opponent fails to hit the ball back over the net, hits it into one of their own service courts, or hits it out of bounds.

A game consists of four points (referred to as “games”), with each point being won by the first player/team to score four successful hits on their opponents’ side (referred to as “points”). A game is won by the first player/team to win six games, provided that they win by at least two games (i.e., 6-4, 7-5). If both players/teams win five games apiece, then a tiebreaker game is played in order to determine who wins the match. In general play, whoever wins four points first wins the game.

Badminton

Badminton is a sport that uses a racket. It is a racket sport. It isplayed with many different types of rackets. The sport can be played indoors or outdoors.

History

Although badminton is a relatively new sport, it has a long and rich history. The game is said to have originated in India in the game of “Poona,” which was played with a net, shuttlecock, and rackets. The British who were living in India at the time adopted the game and took it back to England with them.

The first recorded game of badminton was played in 1873 at Badminton House in Gloucestershire, England, which belonged to the Duke of Beaufort. The game quickly became popular among the upper class and was soon being played all over England. In 1893, the first set of rules for badminton was published by the Bath Badminton Club.

In 1899, representatives from England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and Canada met to form the Badminton Association of England. The organization wrote a new set of rules for the game and held its first championship tournament that same year. In 1934, badminton became an Olympic sport when it was included in the British Empire Games (now known as the Commonwealth Games). It made its debut as an Olympic sport at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Rules

The sport of badminton is played with lightweight rackets and a shuttlecock. The shuttlecock, also called a birdie, is a feathered or plastic projectile that is hit back and forth across a net. The game can be played with two players (singles) or four players (doubles).

Players must keep the shuttlecock from touching the ground on their side of the court, and they can hit it up to three times before itmust cross the net. If the shuttlecock hits the ground on your opponent’s side, you score a point. Games are usually played to 21 points.

When serving, players must stand inside their respective service courts until they hit the shuttlecock. After each point is scored, players must switch service courts. The first player or team to reach 21 points wins the game.

Squash

Squash is a racket sport played by two (singles) or four players (doubles) in a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. The players must alternate in striking the ball with their racket and hit the ball onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court.

History

The game of squash was invented in England in the 1830s. It was originally played withapplication of rackets and a soft ball made of India rubber. The game quickly grew in popularity, particularly among British military officers stationed in India. In 1864 the first squash court was built at Harrow School.

The first squash court in North America was built in 1884 at the Montreal Athletic Club. The first national championship was held in 1907. The game continued to grow in popularity, and by the 1920s there were more than 200 squash courts in Canada.

In 1926, the first international tournament was held in London, and four years later the sport was included as an exhibition event at the Amsterdam Olympic Games. However, it wasn’t until 1998 that squash was finally recognized as an official Olympic sport.

Rules

Here are the basic rules of squash. The game is played by two players (singles) or four players (doubles), who use racket to hit a small, soft ball against the four walls of a squash court. The aim is to hit the ball in such a way that your opponent cannot play a valid return.

A rally starts when one player serves the ball and the other player return it. The ball can be played off any of the four walls, but must not hit the floor twice before being returned. After each shot, both players must move to the front of their respective service boxes and remain there until their next turn to serve.

The game is scored by counting the number of successful rallies (shots won by either player). A point is awarded to the player who wins a rally, irrespective of whether they were serving or receiving. The first player to reach 9 points wins the game.

Table Tennis

Table tennis, also known as ping-pong, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight, hollow ball back and forth across a table using small rackets. The game takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce one time on their side of the table, and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. Points are scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. A skilled player can impart several spins on the ball, causing it to change direction and difficult to return.

History

While there is some debate over the game’s origins, most agree that table tennis began as a parlour game in Victorian England. The game likely evolved from an older game called “royal tennis”, which was played by hitting a ball over a net placed across the centre of a tabletop. In royal tennis, players used their hands to hit the ball; in table tennis, players use small wooden paddles, or “bats”. The game quickly gained popularity and began to spread throughout Europe and Asia.

The first recordedtable tennis tournament took place in England in 1926. In 1927, theTable Tennis Associationwas founded in England, and two years later the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) was established. The first official world championships were held in London in 1926.

Table tennis became an Olympic sport at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. It is currently one of the most popular sports in the world, with an estimated global following of more than 300 million people.

Rules

In order to keep the game fair, there are a number of rules that have been put in place.Table tennis is an Olympic sport that can be played by people of all ages and abilities. The aim of the game is to hit the ball over the net so that your opponent cannot return it, and to make it land inside their half of the table.

If you are playing singles, then you will need to stay on your own half of the table. However, if you are playing doubles, then you can move around the table as long as you stay within your boundaries. The ball can be hit with any part of your bat, but it must not touch anything else before it goes over the net.

If the ball hits the floor on your opponent’s side of the table, then they will lose a point. If it hits any other surface on their side (including their bat), then they will also lose a point. If the ball hits the net and then falls onto your opponent’s side of the table, then they will not lose a point.

You will need to serve first in each game, and you can serve from anywhere behind your end line. The receiver must let the ball bounce once before returning it, and they can return it with any part of their bat. The rally continues until one player fails to return the ball, or if one player hits the ball so that it goes off-course (e.g., hits a light fixture).

A set is won by whoever wins more than six points and has a two-point lead over their opponent. A match is typically best out of three or five sets.
